September 6, 2024 – Lake Quinault, WA – On September 3rd through September 5th 2024, the freshmen at Lake Quinault School had the valuable opportunity to participate in a First Aid and CPR training course. The course was held in Ms. DeMarco's classroom, a setting well-suited for the hands-on learning experience.
The instructor for the course was Denny Bickar, a seasoned professional with extensive experience in emergency response training. Mr. Bickar guided the students through critical life-saving techniques, including CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and basic first aid.
Throughout the three-day course, students engaged in a mix of theoretical learning and practical exercises. They practiced CPR on manikins, learning how to properly administer chest compressions and breaths. Additionally, they were taught how to use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator), a crucial device in resuscitating individuals who have suffered sudden cardiac arrest.
Ms. DeMarco's classroom was an ideal environment for the training, offering ample space for the interactive sessions. The students were attentive and eager to learn, recognizing the importance of these skills in real-life emergencies.
At the end of the course, the freshmen received certification in First Aid and CPR, a significant achievement that adds to their preparedness in handling emergencies. The training not only equipped them with essential skills but also boosted their confidence in their ability to assist others in times of need.
This training is part of Lake Quinault School's ongoing commitment to providing students with practical, life-saving skills that extend beyond the classroom. The success of this event has set a positive tone for the new school year, highlighting the importance of safety and preparedness in the school community.
