Last Thursday, students from Lake Quinault High School had the unique opportunity to participate in Try A Trade at the Satsop Business Park. This fantastic event, designed to introduce high school students to a wide array of trades, featured over 18 different tradespeople and companies showcasing potential career paths.
The event covered a diverse range of trades, including roofing, drywall installation, concrete and cement work, heavy equipment operation, sheet metal work, painting, electrical trades, and flooring installation. Students not only gained hands-on exposure to these professions but also learned about apprenticeship opportunities and trade school options, providing them with concrete next steps to pursue after graduation.
This experience was a valuable learning opportunity, offering students a chance to explore practical and rewarding career paths. The representatives at each booth were eager to share their expertise, and many provided insight into the apprenticeship programs that could lead to stable, high-paying jobs without the necessity of a traditional college degree.
As always, our Lake Quinault students stood out for their enthusiasm and professionalism, making the most of this opportunity to engage with industry professionals and ask insightful questions. Their participation and interest were commendable, reflecting the strong work ethic and community spirit that define our school.
The Try A Trade event was not just an educational experience but also a reminder of the many diverse career opportunities available to young people in the trades. It was an inspiring day, and we look forward to seeing how our students apply what they learned in the years to come.
